The last chemotherapy performed by Priscilla Lemos had celebration and a feeling of relief. The Santo Ângelo resident, after discovering breast cancer, underwent treatment at the Ijuí Institute of Oncology (IOI). With the use of the English cap, hair loss was avoided.

The cap is used 30 minutes before the chemotherapy session, and can be kept for up to 1 hour and a half after the same session. The device offers a lot of comfort to the patients, facilitating the continuity of the treatment. The success of this technique can reach 92%, varying according to the characteristics of the patient and the medication protocol that he receives.

“This is positive for women’s self-esteem. I feel very happy for all the care I received during this period. I call attention to all women who carry out the touch and take exams. I disagree with the phrase: those who seek find. Those who look for it, in fact, if they have a disease, are better able to treat it”, informed Priscilla.

The IOI, which opened in October 2021, is located in the northwest region of Rio Grande do Sul and includes the Clinical Research Center in Oncology – Oncosite, the Surgical Pathology Laboratory – Oncocell and professionals with more than 20 years of experience. The first patient, who is scheduled for next week, has already started chemotherapy treatment and will use the English Cap to minimize hair loss in the next sessions.
